The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is the charity that saves lives at sea. It issued a guide to Coastal Public Rescue Equipment (PRE) in 2007 in an attempt to reduce coastal drownings in the UK. With this a benchmark was set in terms of waterside safety for coastal areas.
