Wide range of Fire Rescue equipment and PPE from Cosalt

17 August 2009
Cosalt has been supplying structural fire fighting and rescue kit to the majority of UK fire brigades for many years alongside an impressive range of flotation devices and water rescue equipment.
Under the current Firebuy framework agreement for lifejackets, buoyancy aids and rescue lines, Cosalt has a number of products listed.
The Ravine Personal Flotation Device (PFD), for example, is ideal for providing additional buoyancy in rescue situations where a lifejacket is not practical. It is typically worn with a dry suit and it is sufficiently streamlined to allow the rescue crew to swim easily if required. The Ravine offers 80N of buoyancy. It is manufactured from soft, comfortable PVC foam and has reflective panels for excellent visibility. There are multiple front and rear pockets for additional storage and a harness attachment point for rescue situations.
Many crews also now carry the Crewfit 275N lifejacket. This is a light and flexible lifejacket that is available in three variations, all approved to EN399 and PPE Directive (89/686/EEC). The standard Crewfit 275N is available with Hammar automatic inflation. The Crewfit 275N Plus version features an integral sprayhood and lifejacket light. There is also Crewfit 275N with an integral deck safety harness.
For more extreme applications, the fire and rescue services can call off a SOLAS MED approved twin chamber Seacrewsader 275N lifejacket that features two 60g CO2 cylinders that can be activated independently. Each chamber has an oral inflation tube with a 1.5psi relief valve to ensure full buoyancy is achieved during single or double chamber inflation. This feature enables the wearer to top up their lifejacket, if required.
In addition to lifejackets and personal flotation devices, Cosalt is well known for its range of traditional Structural Fire kit and designing innovative new products like the Gryphon Technical Rescue Suit.
Available as one-piece or jacket and trouser combination, the Rescue Suit has a durable FR outer shell with the option to attach a waterproof Crosstech liner. The design provides maximum protection and ease of movement. Worn without the liner, the lightweight and flexible construction means it is particularly suitable for dealing with wild land fire fighting, urban rescue missions and road traffic collisions. The product recently received a Blue Light Award in the Company Clothing Awards in recognition of its outstanding design and quality.
Cosalt has also launched a new High Volume Pump 2-piece suit called the Hydra. Designed specifically for use with HVP vehicles, where flame retardancy is not necessarily a requirement, the Hydra offers optimum protection against wet and adverse weather conditions whilst remaining lightweight and breathable. It features a durable 3 layer GORE-TEX® shell jacket and over trouser with a detachable body liner and ergonomic design for unrestricted movement and greater flexibility.
Never a company to stand still, Cosalt recently modified its tried and tested Structural Fire Kit based on the Cosalt Osprey design. This suit now features an innovative detachable liner to give wearers the option to add or remove layers depending on the situation they are facing, ensuring the best possible protection and performance for fire fighter.
