Suits you, Minister!
28 April 2008
SCOTTISH Fisheries Minister Richard Lockhead will be well protected in future - thanks to Cosalt.
For the MSP was presented with a Gemini Flotation Suit when he visited the company's stand at the Fishing 2008 exhibition in Glasgow.
The exhibition proved a great success for Cosalt, with the stand never empty for the duration of the three days. But the most important visitor was Mr Lockhead, who was presented with the flotation suit by UK Sales and Marketing Director Andrew Richards.
The invitation to Mr Lockhead had come from Fraserburgh branch supervisor Carol MacDonald, who headed the Cosalt team at the stand.
She said: "We at Cosalt wanted to ensure the minister is adequately dressed in full safety gear while he visits harbours throughout Scotland."
Carol reported good business for Cosalt.
"We generated quite a lot of sales and enquiries for prospective new vessel builds. Customers from all over Britain were coming to introduce themselves, putting names to faces.
"It was really uplifting to have this as the customer is really satisfied with the service being supplied to them from Cosalt."
The Fisheries Minister was not the only person to walk away with a flotation suit. For during the three days Cosalt ran a free prize draw for customers and visitors.
This was drawn on the final day by Fishing News Editor Tim Oliver. Winning the flotation suit was Dennis Clark from Finning while Robert Baird of Euronete, Aberdeen won a bottle of malt whisky.
Carol, who was supported on the stand by Eleanor McGillvray and Susan Young, both of Cosalt Lewis, Glasgow, wants to build on this year's success at the 2009 show.
"I'm hoping that Cosalt will hold an ‘It's a Knockout' event where we can have fishermen and their families participating in a race against time to see who is the fastest to get on various safety gear. All funds raised will go to a chosen charity, as Cosalt is a community caring company," she said.
The 2009 event will be held from May 14-16 at SECC, Glasgow.
