Cosalt leads the way with ISO 9001:2008 certification

20 May 2009
Cosalt's Workwear business, which is one of the UK's leading providers of protective clothing and equipment to the emergency services, police, military, transport and construction industries, has been certified for their Quality Management System to the latest ISO 9001:2008 standard. The endorsement comes only months after the revised standard was introduced, in November 2008.
The assessment was carried out by the BSI Group, a globally recognised and independent third-party accreditation body, as part of their regular biannual quality management system (QMS) audit. Winning ISO 9001:2008 certification at the first opportunity demonstrated that Cosalt was already satisfying the requirements demanded by the new standard.
Commenting on the achievement, Cosalt's QA Manager Dawn Scott said: "We are very pleased to have achieved certification to 9001:2008 at the first opportunity. Cosalt is continually striving to improve its quality management systems and this provides confirmation from an independent body that we are getting it right. The certificate gives our customers the confidence that we have the processes in place to satisfy their requirements and deliver a consistently high standard of service."
BSI's assessment report noted that Cosalt and its senior management team 'have made a strong and positive commitment to their quality management system and to the principles of ISO 9001:2008', and further that 'the company's controls and measures across the processes assessed were found to meet with the requirements and spirit of the new standard'.
Cosalt's Workwear business was previously operating under ISO 9001:2000. The 2008 standard introduces additional emphasis on the business environment and the risks associated with that environment.
