Cosalt increases presence at Glasgow exhibition
11 February 2008
Quality lifesaving equipment will be included on Cosalt International's stand at the Glasgow Fishing Exhibition.
The company has played a significant role in the fishing industry for more than 100 years, supplying fishermen with a range of products.
Cosalt has expanded its profile at the exhibition this year because of the great interest shown in its products at the 2007 event.
The company is strategically located across Europe, with one of its branches in Fraserburgh. It is the town's principal supplier of marine safety equipment, ropes, twine, chandlery, liferaft servicing and portable fire-fighting equipment sales and servicing.
Its Fraserburgh branch has a qualified rigger working on site. Baden Gibson can manufacture everything from rope pilot ladders and PVC and canvas covers through to cargo nets. He can also repair fishing nets on the quayside. Pre-DTI inspections can also be carried out by staff.
The branch is managed by Carol MacDonald, a well-known figure in the fishing community, having campaigned to defend the industry and communities against further decline.
Scottish Fisheries Minister Richard Lockhead has accepted an invitation from her to visit Cosalt's stand.
Her role as one of the 'Cod Crusaders' took her to Westminster.
She said: "While fishermen depend on Cosalt for our range of life saving equipment, they also depend on the Fisheries Minister to keep their industry afloat.
"The exhibition is vitally important because it shows the fishing industry the new products that are available."
Added Carol: "We at Cosalt International take pride in contributing to the safety measures taken by fishermen and look forward to continuing to provide the industry with our first class service.
"We can supply everything from marine safety equipment to chandlery as well as an excellent onsite rigging service."
The items Cosalt can help with also include life raft hire and servicing, life jacket and fire equipment servicing, cone signals, rope ladders, connectors, shackles, L.S.E , pyrotechnics, twine, rope, suits and jackets, buoyancy aids, ratchet straps and VHF radios.
Cosalt can be found on stall A50 where there will also be exhibition-only offers on Fladen fishing wear.
