Cosalt at Seawork 2009 - Stand 162

29 May 2009

Cosalt will be showing off its groundbreaking Premier 2010 lifejacket and the new Cosalt Personal Recovery Device (CPRD) at this year's Seawork exhibition.

The Premier 2010 is one of the first lifejackets designed to conform to the new testing requirements of the Maritime Safety Committee, being introduced in July 2010.  Designed specifically for designed for cruise ships, ferries and cargo vessels it was born out of an extensive research and development project that involved over 1000 hours of in-water testing and detailed discussions with leading cruise and ferry operators.

"With a number of exciting and innovative patented design features designed to increase survival times, the Premier 2010 will outperform existing products by a considerable margin while still looking like a traditional lifejacket. This means the Premier 2010 is still intuitive to put on, simple to don and adjust," explained Andrew Richards, Managing Director of Cosalt's Marine business. "

The product has a patented design Neck System that can adjust to the wearer's neck size so it can be worn by anyone from 43kg up to 140kg while still maintaining good face angles and mouth clearance above the water. The patented Reverse Angle Head Support holds the head at the optimum position for maximum in-water performance even if the wearer becomes unconscious. The lifejacket self rights in an average of 1.7 seconds.

Cosalt's new CPRD is a flexible, ladder-style device, which enables casualties, conscious or unconscious, to be retrieved from the water in a horizontal position, without risking further injury to the casualty or the rescuer. Available in a variety of sizes, each CPRD is tailored to suit the individual needs of the application it will be used from.  The product is constructed from high density plastic rungs and steel rods and is fitted with Marine Grade 316 stainless steel snap hooks.  Lifting strops and heaving lines are attached to aid retrieval.

Visitors to Seawork will also be able to find out about Cosalt's extensive range of other marine safety equipment, its competitive range of rope products for the commercial marine industry and its approved servicing facilities for liferafts, lifejackets and immersion suits.
