COSALT will net some prime time TV footage when the gripping reality series Trawlermen hits the screens again this summer.

For the company will be sponsoring the crew of the trawler Ocean Venture with Gemini Flotation suits and jackets.

Skipper John Buchan and his seven-man crew have been seen battling the North Sea elements by millions of BBC viewers in 2006 and 2007, and filming for the third series is underway.

Cosalt's Fraserburgh branch, which has supplied the Ocean Venture with its lifesaving equipment for many years, has donated the Gemini suits and these are worn by the crew as they go in search of their elusive catches.

The idea of the sponsorship came from branch supervisor Carol MacDonald who explained: "I approached the owners of the vessel to see if we could do this.

"They have been loyal customers of ours and  the lightweight Gemini suits will, in addition to the full flotation and survival benefits, give the crew the flexibility to work while wearing them."

The Ocean Venture is one of a number of boats from Peterhead and other Scottish ports which go out into the stormy North Sea and vie for the best catches.  'Trawlermen' shows the trials and tribulations of the skippers and crew as they face daily dangers in a hostile environment.

Added Carol: "It tells the story from the consumers' viewpoint. They see the sorts of conditions crews endure in getting the fish to them.  It gives the public an insight into how that piece of cod or haddock gets onto the plate at suppertime."
