Cosalt secures new contracts

12 July 2010

Cosalt, Europe's leading provider of critical safety equipment for the commercial marine, offshore and industrial markets, has recently secured two important new contracts.

The first comes under a personal protection equipment framework agreement by a consortium of North West Fire and Rescue Services. Cosalt will supply firefighters throughout the region with new firecoats and overtrousers manufactured in PBI to exacting technical and ergonomic standards. Both garments have a para-aramid outer fabric to impart excellent inherent mechanical strength and feature ergonomic design enhancements to deliver increased performance and comfort over existing kit.

In addition, Hanson, the UK's leading supplier of heavy building materials to the construction industry, has awarded Cosalt a major contract to supply a range of high-visibility workwear to the company's quarry products division. The order is worth in the region of £250,000 and spans a two-year period.

Cosalt was awarded the contract on the back of its extensive experience of supplying bespoke workwear to the aggregates and quarrying market, where the wearing of hi-vis orange clothing is now standard safety practice.  The company has done a great deal of research into designing workwear that meets the specific needs of the industry and ensuring garments can withstand an aggressive dusty environment.

Andrew Richards, managing director of Cosalt Marine Division said: "For many years Cosalt has been one of the UK's leading providers of protective clothing and equipment to the emergency services, military, transport and construction industries.

"Securing both these contracts reflects our experience in these markets and also our ability to draw upon technology developed for one specific industry and apply it more widely, as was the case with the new firefighting kit, developed to meet the challenges today's firefighters face.

"We look forward to announcing further contract wins in these critical safety equipment markets in the near future."
