Cosalt awarded framework agreement for fire fighter protection equipment and services

12 August 2009
Leading fire fighter protection provider, Cosalt, has recently been successful in the award of a framework agreement for fire fighter protection equipment and services with YPO, the UK's largest local authority procurement consortium.
The contract, which will make Cosalt's award winning clothing, personal protective equipment and fully managed service available to all the UK Fire & Rescue Services, was announced after a rigorous tendering and testing process.
YPO's significant bulk purchasing power provides public sector customers with access to extremely competitive deals from major suppliers of a wide range of market-leading products and services. All contracts are fully compliant, allowing customers to benefit from further cost efficiencies by not having to negotiate a formal tender themselves.
Cosalt provides protection through clothing and safety equipment and more than one million workers across the globe rely on Cosalt garments every day.
Products include the latest in structural fire fighting garments and accessories, and the ground-breaking technical rescue suit, which won the hotly contested Blue Light Award at the international Company Clothing Awards 2009.
All products can be included in the company's popular fully managed service, which can cut costs and improve efficiencies for Fire & Rescue Services through a complete support package that covers testing, sizing, fitting, supply and personnel management.
Laundry, maintenance and product repair give Fire & Rescue Services complete peace of mind, whilst the 24 hour emergency hotline, local rapid-response team and stock-holding service centres ensure constant product availability.
Peter Dawson, Operations & Managed Services Director at Cosalt, said: "This deal presents Cosalt with another avenue to work with Fire & Rescue Services throughout the UK".
"We have been working with the South East Consortium of Fire and Rescue Services for five years and our fully managed service has ensured that more than 5,000 firefighters are ready for action 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days per year. More and more public sector services are showing interest in the fully managed service because of the peace of mind it provides by utilising Cosalt's expertise and wide ranging flexible options.
"Our unique product repair and replacement service has proven invaluable and we continue to guarantee a site visit within two hours of an emergency call being placed.
"We are very much looking forward to working with YPO to make an important contribution to helping reduce costs and improve purchasing efficiencies for UK Fire & Rescue Services."
