Renault is an international brand recognised for its distinctive style and design flair.  The company sells a wide range of cars and commercial vehicles in the UK to both retail and business customers.

Renault's vehicle servicing operation is delivered through a network of independent dealers. It is marketed under two different brands. Renault Service Centres carry out routine servicing while Renault Minute provides a fast -fit while-u-wait service for quick repairs and inspections like tyre, brake and oil checks and MOTs. Cosalt supplies both sides of the servicing operation with workwear.

To get the most out of the company's involvement in Formula 1, Renault UK recently decided to rebrand the workwear worn by all Renault Service Centre and Renault Minute service technicians.

Cosalt was asked to develop a new range of garments designed around the Renault F1 colours, which are white, blue, yellow and orange. 

Explained Tom Wainwright, Product Manager for Renault Merchandising in the UK: " We have worked with Cosalt for a number of years so when it came to awarding a new contract to change our branded workwear we wanted them to get involved. Cosalt produced a themed design that covered our work trousers, jackets, coveralls, coats and polo shirts.

"Throughout the design process the Cosalt team listened to what we wanted but also made important suggestions. For example, we decided to substitute the white colour in the F1 brand for Renault's corporate grey to ensure the coveralls would stand up to industrial wear and washing. We worked closely on the design and the fabrics. I think they understood exactly what we were looking for."

As part of the contract to supply workwear, Cosalt also had to fit in with Renault's Direct From Supplier (DFS) invoicing system.  This means that Cosalt supply workwear direct to the dealers but invoice Renault.  Renault then set the cost of the workwear against the dealers' individual parts targets.

"I cannot rate highly enough Cosalt's willingness to work with us and set up their financial systems to fit in with what we wanted. They were flexible and spent the time to get it right from day one. Many suppliers struggle to adapt and there are teething problems but not with Cosalt.  This was important to us because the DFS system is part of our strategy for creating dealer incentives and setting targets. It also provides us with an important revenue stream," added Tom.
