Babcock is one of the UK's leading rail businesses with a reputation for delivering high quality rail engineering solutions and a commitment to safety. It operates from regional offices in London, York, Birmingham, Swindon, Manchester and Hamilton as well as a network of depots located throughout the UK.
The company looks after all aspects of our rail infrastructure from track construction and maintenance through to the signaling, telecoms and power systems. Previously known as First Engineering, the business was recently rebranded to benefit from the strength and reputation of its blue-chip parent, Babcock International.
Rebranding an operation with over 2000 employees is no small task, especially when it comes to replacing the hundreds of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) garments worn by the rail infrastructure crews and managers working on site, up and down the country.
To ensure the rebrand went as smoothly as possible, Babcock enlisted the help of Cosalt who have worked with them for many years and have a great deal of experience in handling major workwear rollouts for a number of customers.
Explained Babcock's Marketing Manager, Shona Jamieson: "The key to the success of this project was making sure the new hi-vis workwear not only fitted each employee correctly but that it was also batched and delivered to our different sites within a very tight time frame. We had to change our PPE over a short period of time to fit in with our rebrand programme."
The first stage was to invite employees along to 'measuring days' at over 12 separate locations so that people could try on the new hi-vis jackets, trousers, sallopettes, vests, coveralls and polo shirts. Armed with a full election of sizes, the Cosalt team travelled the length and breath of the country to log each individual fitting.
Added Shona: "Cosalt's service throughout was unbelievable. Right from the outset nothing was too much trouble and they understood the urgency of what we were trying to achieve with the rebrand. After the measuring, they brought the orders together in a batch for each depot. We managed to roll the whole programme out over an incredible three-week period.
